i just learned about SIOC half an hour ago, so my question may seem silly, or may have been answered elsewhere. anyhow, here it is:

since all wordpress blogs have same or similar nomenclature/structure of pages, meaning divs and class names for entries, posts, comments, etc., isn't it possible to extract necessary information from that data?

i doubt that many people will install this plugin any time soon, so if i want to make an application that searches and indexes rdf data from blogs, will I be able to do that without them having SIOC installed?

Yes, thinking on the Site and Community thing, we probably also need a "sioc:cache" URL to show that the content is coming from an aggregator, because it may be truncated or changed in some manner from the original.

Regarding the Site / Community aspect, I think both sould be differenciated.

In my mind, a Community is a set of Sites.
If you merge sioc:Site and sioc:Community, it means that a Site will be a group of Sites, but this is already a group of Forums (w/ host_of), and it can be a bit confusing.

But indeed, we might need a Community class, mainly for agregators, which will sioc:gather /includes some Sites.
(In that case, planetRDF will be a Community, each site a sioc:Site, that got one or more sioc:Forum)

Planet PHP has some nice capabilities that make it worth using it.
The main capability being that it keeps the posts in the database as opposed to filtering posts through, creating the feed and forgetting about them.

John has built quite a lot of features in planet.journals.ie based on that.

So, I think planetplanet software by default provides a foafroll.rdf. If you dont mind Java (which you dont seem to :)) you may use my converter. But it seems to be easy to rewrite it using PHP.

I plan to write a SIOC exporter for the Planet PHP aggregator, as I think your idea is great for community-specific planets (I run planet.journals.ie and planet.journals.co.nz which are blog communities for Ireland and New Zealand respectively).
