The result of my investigation is a cool script for Safari and a Greasemonkey user script which integrates a google map right below any photo in flickr. Using this google map I may add geotags right to the photo displayed. For each tour I did I also add a tag like “phwn-2″ to each photo which was taken on that tour. A little bit of prosa for each tour is done over at #B7erge, each post will have the same tag as the photos…

Next things to do:

• get a rdf feed of flickr photos having a specific tag, incl. geo tags in this rdf feed
• mash up this rdf feed with #B4maps

UPDATE:
task number one is done. I have implemented a web service that delivers a RSS 1.0 feed of the photos taken, tagged and geotagged by me and a friend. try it! first access may take a while as local flickr caches get updated…

In the past two weeks I hacked a little Google Maps application called #B4maps which shows some tracks driven lately. Tracks and the Images used to annotate some waypoints are stored in some semi-good XML file…

Today I also finished some XML/XSLT stuff to represent the tracks in an general semantic way using the Locative Packets approach. With some help from #swig I figured out how to preserve the order of the Packets… a bunch of packets is worth nothing without an ordering!

So what we got? An application to show and edit tracks on a map: #B4maps (see its features), a webservice to represent this tracks using RDF, a nice query (which help from Dave Beckett) to figure out the waypoints:

Heute also der maximale Puls bei 171 auf der graden Strecke entlang des Rheins und bei ca. 155 bergauf.

Und da ist das DS9 aber nicht alleine die Tour haben begleitet Jan und der Mann der denn Weg kannte [GNU]. Wir haben diesmal die richtige Abzweigung zu den Kletterfelsen genommen.

Aber nun erst mal zum Wetter: am Anfang ganz ok und am Ende etwas nervig, denn wenn man am Ende gegen denn Wind fahren muss ist das nicht so dolle.

Was man über die Strecke sagen kann, der Anfang ist ganz easy, wo es dann was schwerer wird, ist zu den Kletterfelsen hoch aber auch das ist Ok zu fahren. Die erste Abfahrt von den Kletterfelsen ist schwere, die haben wir dann auch geschoben. (Da sollte man mal nen Foto von machen). Die zweite Abfahrt ist lang und sehr geil zu fahren. Aber um sie wirklich genießen zu können, muss sie trocken sein. … man kann ja nicht alles haben.

Die Tour war alles in allem hard, wir haben diesmal mit viel Strasse angefangen und sind dann erst später in die Berge, es war auf jeden fall ne gute Idee uns am Anfang etwas zu schonen. Die Auffahrt zur Löwenburg ist steinig; grosse, spitze Steine. Die Abfahrt ist irgendwie genau so steinig… ein kontrollierter Abstieg vom Z und ein Umkippen vom Simon… Die Abfahrt ist aber vorallem lang… ca. 6km würde ich schätzen und ist im oberen Teil durch die Steine anspruchsvoll und im unteren Teil – vorallem wenn der Teil mal trocken ist – schnell und kurvenreich.

In diesem Sinne: Hard Winter Nights wartet auf DS9!!

Leider hab ich kein so ein tolles GPS Dings, sonst könnte man auch die Höhenmeter mal messen und die genaue Strecke mal ins Google Earth beamen…

Noch mal leider: es scheint sich auch zu bestätigen, dass das lockout Ventil des hinteren Dämpfers – ein Manitou QRL – kaput ist. Das Element ist immer “weich” und drückt man den lockout Hebel bis zum Anschlag zu tritt Öl aus. Und offensichtlich bin ich damit nicht allein. Termin in der H&S Bike-Discount Werkstatt ist schon gemacht…

In general, podcasting is a very convenient way to consume information. aggregation technology for RSS feeds is good and downloading applications such as iPodder help getting all podcasts together.

From my point of view the most time consuming task ist listening… you need to invest 45min if your podcast is 45min (maybe 35min…). So called shownotes help finding stuff that is most interessting, thus having good show notes is a good tool to deliver a high service level to the consumers of podcasts. From my point of view this is a good example: . Topics are very easy to identify and have a time index so it’s easy to jump directly to the topic of my personal interesst.

Listening to Adam Curry‘s lates Daily Source Code (rss) I found a audio comment by Koan Bremner talking about the interlinkage of OPML and MP3 (via id3 tags). Maybe the thing I tried to outline early on the blog is exactly one of this applications the podcasters are looking for. Podcasting is very much like having a (partly) offline multi media (mp3, mail, html, opml) conversation or discussing an idea and making annotations to that idea as MP3 file. So, it’s not just about linkage from a MP3 to a OPML and vice versa but also about timely correct linkage. What is also needed is a fancy GUI editor to attach the audio comment to the right position of the MP3 one is annotating. After that, there needs to be a publishing mechanism including a trackback/pingback to the URL of the initial MP3 file.

So there needs to be some evaluation on the technologies like OPML, RSS 1.0, MP3 ID3 tags and trackbacks and the opportunities to link them together. In addition to that I will try to pin down a concept for that editor the annotating user could use and the publishing mechanism. And I will have a close look at Adam’s blog, maybe there are some interessting things going on too.

• a key combination on the remote control to set the playlist to the album of the currently played back song… would be nice, because I use random play over all songs most of the time
• some kind of bluetooth interface, to mute the iPod if the phone rings, or even more sophisticated: to mute the iPod if some friend (look at my FOAF file…) comes in range
• some plugin that reads the interpret and title of the song to me if i request it via a key combination on the remote control

I guess most of the things are possible, but heavily related to extending the software on the iPod… where is the iPod SDK??

Wie wird das nun gemacht? Natürlich mit FOAF und wie gesagt Bluetooth. (Feet up! FOAF blog) Beschrieben hat Jim Hughes die Idee scheinbar auf mobitopia das erste mal. Eine entsprechende Schema für RDF gibt es auch direkt. Man sollte das ganze dann noch direkt mit Jabber verbinden, damit ich auch instant messages empfangen und versenden kann.

Zur Visualisierung der Daten kann nicht nur das Mobiltelefon dienen, sonder vielleicht auch etwas universellere Geräte wie das headmap.
